"National Parks, Extractive Industries, and the Birth of the New West"

Rothman's lecture (RealPlayer Plugin required) took place October 27th, 2004 in the AHC Stock Grower's Room. A reception followed the lecture.

Hal Rothman Hal Rothman

Hal Rothman is Professor History and Chair of the Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. His areas of study include environmental history, western tourism, and Las Vegas.He has written articles for a wide range of historical journals and has authored many books.

His most recent books include The Grit Beneath the Glitter: Tales from the Real Las Vegas, Devil's Bargains: Tourism in the Twentieth-Century American West, and The Greening of a Nation? Environmentalism in the U.S. Since 1945.

The American Heritage Center selected Dr. Rothman to be its 2004 Bernard L. Majewski Fellow. The Majewski Fellowship honors the late petroleum industry pioneer Bernard L. Majewski.
