Bernard L. Majewski 1999 Fellowship

From "Jungle" to "Field":  Environmental Change in Northern Veracruz, 1908-1921

Dr. Myrna Santiago

Dr. Santiago's presentation on November 12, 1999 focused on the profound environmental impact of oil production in northern Veracruz in the first two decades of the twentieth century.  She argued that the industry was the beginning of the end for the northernmost Mexican rain forests.

A reception for Ms. Santiago followed the lecture in the American Heritage Center Loggia, Centennial Complex, 2111 Willett Drive, University of Wyoming.
