Lee Alley, Wheatland author and Wyoming's most highly decorated Vietnam veteran, will sign and discuss his book, Back from War: A Quest for Life After Death on Thursday, November 9, 3:00 p.m., in the American Heritage Center's Wyoming Stock Growers' room. The event is free and open to the public. A reception and booksigning will follow the lecture.
Alley was the commanding officer for the 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry of the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam. They were known as the "Rolin Recon," the reactionary force for the battalion with a three-fold mission: one to react anytime the base camp was attacked, to be the first one in and make contact with the enemy, and to serve as support once the contact had been made. |

The book is a first-hand account from Alley and his men about the war and the effect it had on them since. Alley said, "The book is really about healing and that if just one veteran, a veteran's family member, or a loved one reads this and says 'maybe, I'm okay after all,' then this book is a success."
