Information About the Motion Picture

The motion picture "The First Road West:  The Story of the Oregon Trail Through Wyoming" has been digitized from the Paul & Helen Henderson Oregon Trail Collection.  See the AHC catalog for more information about the collection.

Paul Henderson, a noted Oregon Trail historian, served as a consultant and the director on the film for the Wyoming Recreation Commission, which produced it 1976.  The 43 minute, color, 16 mm motion picture was intended to show the trail from Fort Laramie to Fort Bridger, Wyoming and was filmed during the summers of 1975 and 1976.

Viewing the Motion Picture
