J. K. Moore Virtual Exhibit
 
Evelyn Bell, the daughter of J.K.Moore, Jr., maintained the many photographs, letters, and scrapbooks which document the history of the family and aspects of life on the reservation during its early years. She donated the materials to the American Heritage Center in 2003, where the materials are now available for research.

Moore started the J.K. Ranch in 1872. During the 1890s Moore leased 100,000 acres of land and grazed 2,000 head of cattle and many horses.

Veda was raised in Missouri. She came to Wyoming to tutor the children of Richard and Mary Carter at Carter Station, near Fort Bridger. Before going to the Wind River Reservation Moore worked for Carter. Moore married Veda on September 1, 1875. James. K. Moore Family Papers

The James K. Moore Family Papers contain photographs, correspondence, scrapbooks, manuscripts, notes, and other miscellaneous materials pertaining to the history of this Wyoming family. They are primarily documents concerning the lives and activities of three members of the family, James K. Moore Sr., James K. Moore Jr., and Evelyn M. Bell.
