More Pronghorn than People Exhibit

The first scientific description of the pronghorn came from the journey of Lewis and Clark. In 1804 Clark gathered the first pronghorn and called it a Buck Goat. In his journal he described it as something like a sheep or goat but more like an “Antilope or Gazelle of Africa…” In 1818, famous naturalist, George Ord acquired Clark’s pronghorn and gave it the scientific name, Antilocapra Americana.
