A different type of reading room is the Toppan Rare Books Library. Located on the main floor of the building, this collection consists of approximately thirty thousand rare books. Anyone is welcome to view the countless examples of rare and unusual books. Classes taught by the rare books curator provide in-depth background information about the books. Some of the areas of specialty include history and literature of the American West, travel, books written by women authors before 1900, various religions, and examples of the book arts.
